(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Hashem Al-Mousavi, in charge of the office for organizing rituals and mourning congregations of the holy shrines of Imam Hussein (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS) announced that more than 660 mourning congregations will be present in Karbala on the day of Ashura.
The official said that the office has registered about 665 congregations to attend the ceremonies on the day.
“The office will control and organize all of the groups coming from various cities of Iraq, as well as Arab and Islamic countries and Iraqi security forces will fully cooperate with us to ensure security in the city.”
Concurrent with the month of Muharram and the presence of a large number of pilgrims in Karbala, intensified security measures have been taken by the Iraqi officials. 25 thousand police officers have been deployed in the city and its suburbs and new checkpoints have been set up to foil possible terrorist attacks.
